The State government has vigorously promoted industrial since the 1980s. In its endeavor to transform Sarawak into an industrialized entity, the government continues to develop industrial zones and estates.
While developing industrial estates, emphasis has been placed on sustainable development and a good quality of life. Industrial estates are strategically located, taking advantage of the well-planned infrastructure such as the locations of ports and airports. Well-linked by an efficient network of transport facilities, the Industrial Estates have adequate supplies of reliable water, cheap electricity as well as a host of other modern amenities and facilities.
While existing Industrial Estates are well-equipped with all the facilities, the State Government also provides for a waste disposal scheme, incorporated into modern management system, with an environmental-friendly treatment plant which is available at a reasonable cost.
