RTM began transmission to Sarawak on August 31, 1975 when a RM 28 million microwave link was built between Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. It received color television shows in 1978. In 1998, NTV7, a Sarawak-based television network was launched nationwide. By 2001, Kuching had established its own private radio station called “ Cats Radio ”.
